It also makes me question certain Christmas requests. Why is it that the actual toys, lusted after for months on end, become less fun than the wrapping paper or the box it came in? What's more, Mom and Dad's regular things are even more exciting. I guess that's why they invent things like E-Z bake ovens (which turn out to be more of a hassle for parents. Just a piece of unsolicited advice for any of you contemplating buying one)!

I love your BYU propaganda here. And my kids always turn my human stuff into their toys too! I am with you on the kids versions being both more expensive and less useful. Hey here is an idea: buy something for yourself and then bill it a kids' gift--then they get it AND you get it.
Forts out of couch cushions were the coolest. But if you think about it, the problem with most toys is the size of it...you can't build an entire fort out of legos. Therefore, you have to go to bigger building blocks, like furniture.
